An OpenSpot2 arrived on my doorstep the other day. After using a pi-star hotspot for a bit, I was excited to try it out. After manually adding the OpenSpot2 to my radio, it needed to be selected in the From field in DR mode. It wasn’t there! Maybe the wrong option was selected when saving it, so second attempt was made. On saving, it said it was a duplicate call sign. Looking at the repeater list, it wasn’t there.

To make a long story short, I went to DV Memory from the main menu and saw it listed there. Since the OpenSpot2 was set to transmit and receive on the same frequency, I’d disabled duplex. I guess the radio assumes that if duplex is disabled, it isn’t a repeater and doesn’t show it in the repeater list? After editing the settings, enabling duplex and setting the offset to zero, the OpenSpot2 showed as a valid repeater.
